Despite our many, many differences in belief, customs, and personalities, there is more love on this site than in the entire WTS cult. Why else would we all put up with one another?
To everyone here:
i love this site, it has been instrumental in my "waking up" as i have read thread after thread i realized something, people who have left the borg "apostates" (i used that term loosely, and mean no offense) are much more understanding and loving to someone who's learning the ttatt.
once someone states they don't want to give out too much personal info.
while telling "their story" (for obvious reasons) no one attacks the person and says if you really believe the ttatt you need to defend it all times!

To everyone here:
i've been thinking about you.
and i'm sending you lots of love across the universe.
hope it reaches you soon.... .
Mouthy: " You should go. There are Atheists that go ,John Englese is one.He has been for 34 years since it first started,
They go around the room & ask you to introduce your self .Tell them you came for Grace GOUGH!!!! You will
get a clap I PROMISE!!! They love me there. It was the happiest time of my 85 years of life. Truthfully. "
I can't make a promise to go, Mouthy, as my health is iffy. But I'll check out the event, and if at all possible, I'll go, tell them who sent me, and report back to you. If you think it's a worthwhile endeavor to go, then it must be so.
parakeet, of the Mouthy-fan-club class.
for the past year or so, i've been turning in just one or two hours of service time.
it has been mentioned to me from an elder "friend" that i'm never seen at any meetings for field service.
i get his implication.
gingerbread: " What is your experience when you stop turning in time? "
When I saw the thread title, I thought it had something to do with Zen meditation.
As a reluctant braindead dub teenager who never, but never, turned in more than the required 10 hours a month (usually more like 2 or 3), an elder would occasionally hint that more hours would be pleasing to Jehovah. I ignored him and several years later I ignored the WTS. It was a liberating but emotionally draining experience.
Brown 2 pounds lean hamburger, then add 1 can refried beans, 2 packages Old El Paso Reduced Sodium seasoning mix, 1 jar salsa, 1 1/2 cups water. Let simmer, uncovered, until thick. The salsa can be mild to hot, depending on your tolerance to heat.
Instead of using taco shells, I heat some Tostito Scoops chips in the microwave, then spoon on them the taco meat/bean mixture, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, more salsa, and diced fresh tomatoes. Eat with fork or spoon or fingers.
I know this doesn't come close to authentic Tex-Mex, but I'm a Pennsylvanian, and this is as close as I can get. I think it's pretty tasty.
the great day of god the almighty certainly is a fit description for the destruction of men, women, children, grandmothers, infants and puppy dogs in the days of noah.. why didn't destroying everybody on earth except a remnant of 8 count as armageddon?.
i mean, if you are starting all over by genocide--shouldn't it count for more than bad temper?.
what are we missing?.
Myelaine/Michelle, please keep in mind that Cold Steel is a Mormon, and any answers to your questions will be based on Mormon beliefs.
so i decided to attend the meeting last.
since i haven't gone in about 2 weeks, and i leave as soon as it ends, and elder decided to corner me at the end.
lately i've been through some very depressing family issues that are non-jw related so i haven't been my best at acting like i care about the org.
Qcmbr: " "When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they propose a plan–it is God’s plan. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe. When they give direction, it should mark the end of controversy. God works in no other way. To think otherwise, without immediate repentance, may cost one his faith, may destroy his testimony, and leave him a stranger to the kingdom of God." - LDS Improvement Era 1945 "
Whenever anyone or any organization tells you to stop using your "God-given" brain to think, you know you are in the presence of a cult.
last week a friend of mine contacted me out of the blue asking if we could have lunch together.
my friend has been studing with the jw's on and off for about 11-12 years i think.
she has told me everytime i see her that she can't wait for jehovah to end this evil world...she can't wait for the new system...the end is so close....etc.. i sent her a message back telling her that i left the jw's and asked her if she had heard that.
Now THAT's the kind of "field service" that should be reported and published. It takes courage to face a dub (or nearly dub in this case) and risk ridicule and rejection in order to tell them the truth.
Even if your friend decides to stay with the dubs, you've done as much as anyone possibly could to convince her of her error, Gojira.
i've been thinking about you.
and i'm sending you lots of love across the universe.
hope it reaches you soon.... .
I am not well. So if you hear I kicked the bucket be happy for me.
I truly hope it's not as serious as that. You can't imagine how much we will miss you if you "kick the bucket." No "bucket-kicking" allowed on this site! It's in the rules. Simon would be furious.

Mouthy: I used to bring the neighbours in to hear it .Yes I counted time for its preaching....
I didn't know you had a parakeet! We bird nuts have to stick together!
And I'm just tickled to think that at least a few of the hours the great and mighty WTS reports as field service time was performed by a bird. There's something deliciously ironic about that. Birdie should be resurrected for that!
BTW, if you are well enough to attend your Blue Mountain retreat this year, I live fairly close by. I would love to meet you if you have the time. I'm an old atheist, but the WT has made sure that we still have a lot in common. If you have time, I'd love to take you around to see the sights in my section of beautiful Pennsylvania.
Just something to think about. I'll check back in with you this summer.
Get well soon, Grace!
The spark was already struck when you decided to look for info about JWs online. The information you found here merely fanned that spark into a small flame. It's up to you whether to put the flame out or feed it with the real truth.
Good luck to you.
